Laser Hair Removal

A recent scientific advance in medical laser technology gives us a gentler, safer and faster solution to the problem of unwanted hair.

Results are normally seen after the first procedure but best results are achieved with five treatments.  Laser therapy is a thoroughly tested, clinically proven method of hair removal. Treatment is relatively quick and removes unwanted body hair without damaging the surrounding skin.

Men and women who want to rediscover the ease, beauty and confidence of hair-free skin, can now have the attractive appearance they’ve always desired.

How does the laser work?

The laser emits a gentle beam of energy that passes through the skin to the hair follicle.  The energy is then transformed into heat, damaging the follicle and inhibiting its growth.

How do I know if I’m a good candidate for laser hair removal?

If you are concerned about unwanted hair, you are probably a good candidate for laser hair removal.

Although the most dramatic results occur for clients with light skin and dark hair, new laser technology now makes it possible for people with darker skin to receive greater benefits.

Since other factors influence treatment response each of our clients are individually evaluated during their initial consultation.

What does it feel like?

Many people say that the treatment feels like a series of slight pin pricks to the skin.  The vast majority of our clients tolerates this sensation well and do not need anesthetics. Additionally, our Cynosure laser is equipped with a patented cooling system designed to ease any discomfort.

How many treatments are required?

Hair grows in cycles.  The laser only affects hair when it is in its early-growth phases.  It will disable follicles that are actively producing hair at the time of the treatment. At any time, some hair follicles are dormant.  Repeat sessions will treat these follicles when they re-enter the growth phase.

Age Spots

State-of-the-art lasers are used today to treat brown skin discolorations (i.e. age or sun spots). They emit wavelengths of light that are better absorbed by colored pigments in the skin, making it possible to treat a variety of superficial and deeper pigmented lesions.

How many treatments can I expect?

Although most of our clients see results after their first treatment it may take as many as five to achieve optimal results. In rare cases a person may not have enough pigment present.  This could result in an inability to achieve a noticeable change.

What does it feel like?

We do have clients who say the sensation is similar to a rubber band snap, although it is usually minimal and brief.

What can I expect after treatment?

Usually within 20 minutes the treated areas will be slightly darker and may even be raised. Following treatment, our clients often say that they have a sunburn sensation for a few days. In some cases it may look like a superficial burn and in rare cases clients indicate that a blister has formed or they feel like mosquito bites.
It normally takes between three days to three weeks for the discoloration to slough off. It is very important to follow all post treatment instructions and stay out of the sun for as least a four-week period to avoid irritating the treated areas. If you cannot avoid sun exposure then a sunscreen of no less that 30 SPF should be used.

How do I prepare for the treatments?

We recommend staying out of the sun four weeks before beginning, throughout the treatment series and four weeks following the last treatment. If you cannot avoid sun exposure then a sunscreen of no less that 30 SPF should be used.

Spider Veins

Spider veins, or telangiectasias, are red, bluish or purple veins that appear on the face and legs. They result from sun exposure; use of oral contraception, hormone therapy; the aging process or heredity and are bothersome to millions of people worldwide.

Advanced laser procedures have proven extremely effective in treating them because they deliver a direct prescribed dose of energy which coagulates the problem veins while sparing the surrounding skin tissue. After treatment, the vessels slowly and naturally disappear.

How many treatments are required?

We generally recommend one or two treatments (with visible results in three to four weeks after). However, we do have many clients who see dramatic results right away.

How can I be sure that this will work on my veins?

Since other factors influence treatment response, each of our clients is individually evaluated during their initial consultation. However, this procedure works very well for most people whose spider veins are 3 mm or less in size.

When can I resume normal activities?

Although we encourage our clients to resume normal activities almost immediately after treatment, we do suggest that they refrain from vigorous exercise and avoid hot tubs for 24 - 48 hours and avoid direct exposure to the sun. However, if you must be in the sun, you’ll need to protect the treated area with a minimum SPF 30 sunscreen.

What does it feel like?

There may be no discomfort at all or minor to moderate discomfort associated with treated larger veins. Most of our clients describe the sensation as a series of rubber band snaps on their skin.  Additionally, our Cynosure laser is equipped with a patented cooling system designed to ease any discomfort.

Skin Rejuvenation

Non-ablative laser skin rejuvenation is an FDA approved treatment for helping men and women achieve a more youthful appearance. It works by gently warming the collagen, stimulating its growth. This results in a reduction in scars, fine lines and wrinkles, and pore size. The laserFACIAL also reduces redness, spider veins, and age spots. Because the laser's pulsed light does not wound the skin's surface, the need for complicated post treatment care is virtually eliminated. During the procedure most of our clients say that their skin feels lightly warmed, making the experience relaxing, therapeutic, and pleasant.

How many treatments are required?

Treatments are usually given in 2-4 week intervals for a series of 3-5 procedures.  Most of our clients see subtle, but noticeable, results after their first treatment.  However, because collagen is stimulated, most of our clients experience daily ongoing and consistent improvements during, and after, the entire treatment period.  Due to the aging process, maintenance treatments may be recommended.

What does it feel like?

The approximately 45 minute procedure feels like a gentle warming of the skin and is usually very pleasant.  There are no uncomfortable after-effects.

What results should I expect after the treatment?

Although most patients report few if any side effects, the most commonly noticed might be a slight redness that disappears within a few hours after the treatment. Consult with your medical professional for complete information on the benefits and risks of treatment.
